The S.E.L.B. Have an ongoing commitment to the provision of opportunities for young people to benefit from a wide range of activities which involve living, moving and learning in the outdoors. To achieve this the Board have invested in Outdoor Education Centres.
These centres offer not only a wide programme of youth work curricular activities for personal development but also training for youth workers and teachers in specific skills.
To ensure the quality of training, the five boards operate a common syllabus detailing level of training and recognition of leaders. This document provides a framework for the training and recognition of leaders. It takes into account current guidelines and coaching schemes of governing bodies of the sports or activities involved.
