Early Years Projects

Early Years Projects offer a stimulating and caring educational environment for children with severe and complex special educational needs. The projects currently run in the following special schools:- Ceara School , Lurgan, Rathore School , Newry and Sperrinview Special School , Dungannon . Children placed in Early Years Projects will have access to specialist teaching, classroom assistance, specialist equipment and home to school transport on the recommendation of the Consultant Community Paediatrician.

Applications for a limited number of places in Early Years Projects are made on behalf of parents by Educational Psychologists and Community Paediatricians. Priority is given to children who have reached their 3 rd birthday on or before 1 st September of the year of entry.

The Board will normally seek the agreement of parents to carry out a statutory assessment of their child’s special educational needs during the time their child is placed in an Early Years Project.
