Referral Criteria

The team is an early intervention team and seeks to respond appropriately to identified need which is impacting on a pupil’s emotional health and well-being in school.

A referral to the team should only be made where significant concerns remain after all the usual pastoral systems and supports have been implemented.

To avoid duplication of resources when a pupil has been referred to or is already being supported by another service or agency it is unlikely that such a referral would be deemed appropriate. Therefore it is important that each case is discussed with the relevant Assistant Advisory Officer before parental consent is sought and prior to any referral being made in writing.

This team has an advisory role and officers may be consulted with regard to other more relevant support services available.

To facilitate easier access to advice, a member of the team may be contacted for advice and guidance on Wednesdays from 12 noon until 4pm during the school year. The adviser or assistant advisory officers continue to remain available by telephone outside these hours.

Referral Forms

(only to be completed by school or SELB Service following telephone discussion)
