Our Mission Statement
To foster a love for and understanding of music by providing tuition and wide-ranging performance opportunities for young people.
Through a team of highly motivated and dedicated professional tutors, students will develop musical skills and understanding which will enhance their own personal development to the greater benefit of schools and the wider community.
“Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul, on which they mightily fasten, imparting grace, and making the soul of him who is rightly educated graceful.”
- Plato Republic III (c375-368 B.C.)
Music makes a vital contribution to the educational and personal development of young people.
Having the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument and to play and perform is known to improve self-esteem, self-confidence and social skills, leading to a positive attitude to schooling and improved standards in music and the wider curriculum.
The growth of our service has brought a corresponding increase in the number of pupils we teach, currently over 6,000: a further 5,000 benefit from access to music-making through initiatives such as our live music and world drumming projects.
The increased pupil numbers are in part due to our whole class teaching ‘Pathways’ projects which have become so popular in many schools and which offer the opportunity to develop excellent musicianship skills while also learning to play a musical instrument.
