The Lough Road Learning Centre provides programs of learning in a supportive environment for young people in Key Stage 1 & 2 and Key Stage 4, who are struggling to maintain their place in mainstream school because of their social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Lough Road Learning Centre Primary Partnership
"Small Steps to Success"
The Primary Department works in partnership with mainstream schools and parents throughout the Southern Education and Library Board area. The aim is to assist children who have been identified as having severe social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and who require more support than is available in a mainstream setting.
At the Lough Road Learning Centre we aim to create a calm, caring community where teachers teach and pupils learn.
We aim to provide a supportive and positive atmosphere where each individual young person is valued and encouraged to reach their potential and develop their physical, mental, emotional and social well-being.
At the Lough Road Learning Centre we aim to establish an environment where all enjoy a sense of belonging and have an important role to play. We work closely with families, host schools and all other agencies to provide a holistic approach to each child as an individual. We wish to encourage pupils' self-respect and respect for others and an acceptance of appropriate responsibilities. A positive ethos of merit and reward is central to our pastoral provision.
Staff from mainstream schools are welcomed as visitors and partners in learning.
