Student Finance

The Student Finance Section is responsible for processing support applications and financial assessments from eligible domiciled students undertaking higher education courses.

If you normally live in Northern Ireland all the online services and advice you need including downloadable forms are available from the Student Finance NI website.

If you wish to make a telephone enquiry you should contact the Customer Support Office, telephone 0300 100 0077. This is open Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am-4pm.  The office will be closed on Sundays from 23 November 2014 to 22 February 2015 (inclusive).

If you wish to visit the office you may do so during the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm (Monday-Friday).

The Board has a set a standard of 12 working days to reply to all written correspondence, but due to the heavy demands on the service during the period July to October replies may take longer.

Further Education Awards 

Further Education awards are available for some approved further education courses which do not attract support under the Student Support Regulations. There is only a limited amount of money available and if you apply late you may not receive any support. Student Finance NI will be administering further education awards on behalf of the five Boards.

The closing date for full time applications is 1st September 2014 and the closing date for part-time application is 30th September 2014.





The Southern Education and Library Board (the ‘Board’) was established as part of Local Government reorganisation in 1973 and is the largest of the five area Boards. The Board's principle functions are the provision of education and youth services to the District Council areas of Armagh, Banbridge, Cookstown, Craigavon, Dungannon & South Tyrone and Newry & Mourne. It spans 1,450 square miles with a total population of approximately 390,300 including 75,767 pupils.
