Traveller Focus Week 1st to 5th December 2008
Traveller Focus Week will be celebrated this year from
1st to 5th December. The main programme of events for the week has been organised by The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland in partnership with An Munia Tober Traveller’s Group Belfast.
Each year the organisers identify a specific theme to focus the event and its associated activities. This year the theme will be Intercultural Dialogue. If you wish your school to contribute to Traveller Focus Week why not think about organising a school based event to celebrate this unique cultural group.
Traveller Focus Week 3rd to 7th December 2007

You may wish to hold a special assembly, or explore Traveller life through drama, art, music or poetry. These activities could be incorporated into your curriculum objectives around developing the young person as a contributor to society, citizenship or mutual understanding.

To support schools in developing projects a list of Traveller specific resources has been posted on can the SELB website details of which can be DOWNLOADED HERE. Additional Traveller specific promotional materials can be downloaded from the Equality Commission’s website. www.equalityni.org.

Feedback from any events held by your school including photographs would be very welcome and these can be e-mailed to tss@selb.org.
