| She said that United Christian Aid takes any kind of materials, no matter what the condition. They either sell it at their local shops (and use the money for the benefit of the people of Moldova) or transport it directly to Moldova. She told many harrowing tales of the lives of people in Moldova and this motivated the pupils to collect as much as they could.
Before Christmas we transported 4 minibus loads of bric-a-brac to the United Christian Aid shop in Derrytrasna. We had tea sets, clothes, books, games, bed clothes, even an old tennis racket!
At the beginning of March Bridie again visited the pupils at Key Stage 3 and thanked them for all their hard work and endeavour. She was amazed by the amount they had raised and presented the pupils with a gift from the people of Chisinau, in Moldova. In turn the pupils of Lough Road Learning Centre Key Stage 3 presented Bridie with a box of chocolates, an Easter egg and a card. |
