Anti-Bullying Week 2008
Anti-Bullying Week 2008 is being held between 17th – 21st November. While this is an opportunity for schools to raise general awareness about bullying with their pupils and to carry out a range of preventative activities during the week, it is usual to have a theme each year that we encourage schools to focus activities around. This year the theme will be ‘tackling the fear of being bullied in a new school’.
The Northern Ireland Anti-bullying Forum ( NIABF) will distribute free resource packs to schools in the north of Ireland in advance of Anti-Bullying Week, but only to those schools who have registered.  ClicK Here to download the registration form and submit to NIABF as soon as possible and not later than 24th October 2008 .

NIABF is hosting a short story competition for pupils based on the theme of Anti-Bullying Week, namely ‘the fear of being bullied when new to a school’. All children are new to a school on at least one occasion, and over the course of their school lives this may happen several times: whether as a result of formal transition stages, a family house move, a newly arrived child of a migrant family, or for other reasons.

NIABF is calling upon schools to support its pupils to engage in the competition.  All entries must be by individual pupils and not groups. The closing date for entries to be received by NIABF is Friday 17th October 2008 . To find out more please read an explanatory letter and download the school preparation pack
