| Several specific cultural events are already planned for Belfast, Lurgan and Armagh. Further details of events taking place during the week can be found at http://www.anmuniatober.org/ and http://www.equalityni.org/ .
If you wish to contribute to Traveller Focus Week why not think about organising a school based activity to commemorate this special occasion.
Some ideas might include exploring and developing possibilities through school assemblies, poetry, art and craft, stories, drama etc. These can be incorporated into your curriculum objectives around developing the young person as a contributor to society, citizenship and mutual understanding.
To support your school in developing projects for Traveller Focus Week I have collated a list of Traveller specific resources, books and materials, details of which can be
DOWNLOADED HERE.
I am also interested in creating a booklet of schools’ innovative and creative ideas so I would be grateful if your ideas, photographs etc would be emailed to: Traveller Support Service so that they can be shared with teachers in other schools. Staff attached to the Traveller Education Service will be very willing to help you further develop your ideas. The time to start planning is now.
