International Sports Day at Lough Road Learning Centre

| On 19 th June 2007, pupils and staff from Key Stage 3 at the Lough Road Learning Centre in Lurgan enjoyed a Sports Day with a twist. The teaching team realised that 19 th June was also the little-known “Feast of Saint Romuald”, a celebration day which is known throughout Italy, France and other parts of Europe. |
| Over the preceding weeks, pupils took part in an original cross-curricular study of St Romuald in preparation for the big day – Italian phrases were used whenever possible, Mediterranean food was prepared, St Romuald t-shirts and flags were printed and new historical and geographical facts were introduced. |

| All the pupils and staff had a great day, mixing fun activities with traditional sports day events, finished off by their very own Saint Romuald feast, with fantastic cooking, colour and music. |
