| Music Service Prize Winners 2006/2007 |
|

The SELB Music Service held its Annual Prize Night Ceremony on Friday 1 st June in Newry Town Hall. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the endeavours and achievements of some of the Music Service’s young students. |
In all, 95 students were nominated for awards and all nominees received a medal along with the 22 winners who received the cup for their category.

The awards were presented on the night by Mr Kyle McCallan vice-captain of the Ireland cricket team and winner of the prestigious Sunday Independent/Hyundai Irish Player of the Year Award for 2006.

The first ever Friends Association Advanced Teaching Bursary Awards were also presented at prize night. The winners of the awards were, Fergal Rafferty, Stephen Murphy, Michelle Scullion, Tracy Burns and Gary Lennox. These hard working students will have their advanced tuition lessons paid for by the Friends Association Scholarship fund.

| The Martin White Scholarship was also awarded, this was created to help students who are leaving the Music Service to attend Music College. This year there were two joint winners. David Sterrit (who will be attending Trinity College London) and Lucia McLernon (who will be attending The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama).
There were also several performances from a selection of Music Service students. A very enjoyable evening was had by all, and congratulations to the winners, nominees and performers! |
