CLASSROOM ASSISTANTS INFORMATION

Following a meeting held to review the situation, the Chief Executives of Northern Ireland’s Education and Library Boards expressed concern at the continued confusion regarding their fair and final offer aimed at ending the ongoing classroom assistants’ dispute.

The Chief Executives reiterated:

there will be NO increase in working hours for ANY classroom assistant
there will be NO cut in pay for ANYONE currently employed as a classroom assistant
EVERY classroom assistant will benefit from the additional £15million in the form of a lump sum payment
it is estimated that up to 50% of classroom assistants will receive back-pay, amounting to £25.2million, as a result of the job evaluation exercise. Those who will benefit most currently work in the special schools
