‘Good Practice in the Early Years’ DVD Launched

A number of schools across the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) area have been involved in a DVD focusing on children’s education in their early years. Representatives from the schools attended the launch of the ‘Good Practice in Early Years’ DVD in Armagh recently.

Maureen McConville , of the SELB Literacy Team, explained: “The DVD was designed to help all those involved with the provision of early years education in the primary sector. It provides an opportunity to disseminate the good practice which is currently taking place in schools within the SELB area.

‘Good Practice in the Early Years’ DVD Launched

“The DVD focuses on aspects of High/Scope, such as the plan/do/review cycle, greeting time and small group time and literacy practices, for example, shared reading and writing and guided reading. The High/Scope approach places a strong emphasis on how children learn.
“The hard work and co-operation of the staff in the making of this DVD are gratefully acknowledged.”
The DVD was filmed during the summer term of the school year.
The schools involved in the DVD were: The Armstrong Primary School, Armagh; Aughnacloy Primary School; Ballyoran Primary School, Portadown; Dickson Primary School, Lurgan; Edenderry Primary School, Portadown; Millington Primary School, Portadown; Saints and Scholars Primary School, Armagh; St Dallan’s Primary School, Warrenpoint; St Mary’s Primary School, Stewartstown; St Patrick’s Primary School. Aghacommon; St Peter’s Primary School, Cloughreagh.
