AUSTRIANS TEACHERS COME TO LEARN
A group of 20 principals and teachers from Austria have undertaken a benchmarking visit to the Southern Education and Library Board area.
The Austrian delegation departed for home on Saturday following a busy week of educational engagements and cultural visits.
AUSTRIANS TEACHERS COME TO LEARN

Their primary purpose has been to learn how information and communications technology is used to support and enhance learning for children in the SELB area and observe best practice in this regard. On a visit to St Patrick’s Grammar School, Armagh, the group had an opportunity to see how specialist resources such as interactive whiteboards are used in education in Northern Ireland.
The group was met at SELB Headquarters on the Mall by the organisation’s Chief Executive, Mrs Helen McClenaghan and later were guests at a reception hosted at the Palace by the Mayor of Armagh City and District, Councillor William Irwin.
Welcoming the overseas guests, Mayor Irwin praised the SELB for facilitating the visit and paid tribute to the good practices which exist in education within the Board’s area.
He expressed the hope that the visit would prove beneficial to the group and that some may have the opportunity to return to Armagh again in the future.
