| Dr Geraldine Cuskelly of LMC comments: “This event provides an ideal platform for those working directly in the provision of school meals to exhibit their culinary skills in preparing beef and lamb dishes for children. This competition is particularly important due to the proposed compulsory nutritional standards for school meals, "Catering for Healthier Lifestyles" which recommends that beef/and lamb dishes should be provided on at least two days of the school week.”
Janet McAllister, Chairperson of NISCA added: “ We are delighted at the level of support for the competition this year. This event demands time, commitment and courage from all entrants who are already very busy providing meals for 140,000 children daily. This is an opportunity for them to demonstrate that they still have culinary skills despite the message portrayed in Jamie Oliver's recent programme on Channel 4! NISCA would like to thank the LMC for their continued sponsorship to this event and wish all the contestants every success.”
