| “The
event is about giving young people a voice and facilitating
them to address issues which they identify,” said Mr
Hamill.
“An educational experience is provided in a fun environment.
The programme has workshops on cultural diversity, sexuality/gender,
young people’s issues and religion. These are discussion-based
and lead on to arts workshops where young people can choose
to express their views using music, drama, art, video or multi-media.
There is also nightly entertainment, including a live band,
karaoke, games and activities, plus a day trip to Portrush
and the North Antrim Coast.
“The conference is sponsored jointly by the New Opportunities
Fund Activities for Young People and the SELB Youth Service.
“The steering group wants applications from across the
SELB area. The cost is £20 per person and includes all
meals and accommodation.
