| “There
is clear evidence that good quality education in the early
years has long-term benefits for children’s educational
and emotional development.
“I am delighted to officially open Tandragee Nursery
School, which should prove to be a sound investment in their
future,” said Mrs Crawford (pictured) who was presented
with flowers by a pupil.
SELB chairman Mrs Moira Alexander said she was pleased to
celebrate the opening of the new nursery school.
Mrs Alexander said: “Tandragee Nursery School is funded
from the SELB’s Pre-School Education Expansion Programme.
“The school is designed to cater for children in their
early years of development and provision has been made for
26 full-time and 52 part-time places.
“I wish the principal, staff and pupils of the school
well as they make use of these bright new facilities.”
Mrs Aubreen Forde, principal of Tandragee Nursery School,
said pupils had settled into the school very quickly and there
is full enrolment for September 2004.
“This is a wonderful facility for the children ensuring
that their creativity can flourish in these formative years,”
said Mrs Forde.
“Everyone here works together for the well-being of
the children, showing care and encouraging their personal,
social and intellectual development.”
The building covers 296m2 and comprises: two play rooms with
associated quiet rooms and toilets; parent/staffroom; office
provision; a utility room; internal and external storage accommodation
and a covered play area.
