Friday, March 12, a cheque for £1400 was handed over
by Helen McClenaghan, SELB chief executive, at the Riding
for the Disabled Centre, Loughgall Road, Armagh.
Mrs McClenaghan praised the Recreation Club and the staff
who organised and supported the fundraising events.
“I am delighted that my SELB colleagues have played
their part in raising funds for Armagh’s Riding for
the Disabled Centre,” said Mrs McClenaghan.
“I know that children with disabilities experience hours
of enjoyment when using this centre and it’s great that
we in the SELB have had this opportunity to support it.”
Fred Wilkinson, who is also a committee member of Armagh Riding
for the Disabled, said the SELB events were among a number
of fundraising initiatives organised for the centre.
“Armagh Riding for the Disabled is run voluntarily and
depends on the financial support of the public to keep it
operating,” said Mr Wilkinson.
“There are five horses at the centre used by more than
50 children.
“Funding is now being sought to put a roof on the arena.
If this is provided it would mean that the centre could be
used all year round.”
