| A drawing by Leah Black, a pupil of Drumadonnell Primary School,
Banbridge, was chosen for the Board's card sent to schools and colleges. A design by Rosalind Haydock, a pupil of Royal School , Dungannon, was
chosen for the card which the SELB Chairman and Chief Executive sent to
chairmen of education bodies, education-related organisations, district
councils and Government Departments.
Michelle Heaney, a pupil of Sacred Heart Grammar School , Newry, not
only contributed a design for the Christmas Card competition but also
composed a greeting incorporating the letters ‘SELB'. Although not a
feature of the competition, the judges were so greatly impressed by the
special message that it was decided to include it on the cards.
Two runners-up are each to receive a £20 prize: Leon O'Neill, Sperrinview
Special School , Dungannon; Kim Kennedy, Rathfriland High School .
Mrs McClenaghan said: The judging panel thoroughly enjoyed the art
work of almost 2,200 pupils and found it really taxing to decide which
were the most eye-catching and festive designs.
“We hope the artists derived as much pleasure as we did as we admired
the creativity, colour and dramatic effect shown by them.
“As always, thank you to the principals, teachers and pupils who took up
the challenge of the competition.”
