Work starts on Annaghmore/Tullyroan replacement Primary School

Work has begun on a £1.5m development by the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) for a school to replace Annaghmore and Tullyroan Primary Schools.

SELB Chairman Moira Alexander officially marked the start of the project with the sod-cutting on the site at Blackisland Road, Annaghmore, on Thursday, October 21.
The Department of Education has allocated £1.5m for the five classroom school which will also comprise a multi-purpose hall, resource areas and other ancillary spaces.
Mrs Alexander said: "I am delighted to officially mark the start of work on the site of this new school. Today is a special day for all involved.

"This project represents the Board's ongoing investment in high quality education provision throughout the SELB area."
Also attending the sod-cutting were pupils of Annaghmore and Tullyroan Primary Schools, teaching staff and representatives of the Boards of Governors of the two schools.
Annaghmore rector Reverend Dororthy McVeigh led a short service of dedication at the site.
The school development is on a two-and-a-half acre site and will be integrated with the existing road network and local areas of development.
The main contractor on the school scheme is Glasgiven Contracts Ltd, Annalong.
