was promoted to Assistant Senior Education Officer in 1998
with responsibility for a wide range of services for children
and young people.
On accepting his new appointment as Head of Educational Services,
Walter commented, "My vision for education is that it
will become a creative activity, providing young and old with
enjoyment, stimulation, therapy and empowerment. I would like
to see less emphasis on academic achievement and more on opportunities
for all people to explore and express their emotions, feelings
and talents in positive and constructive ways."
The SELB Education Department provides a wide range of services
to schools in the southern board area including Curriculum
Advisory & Support, Psychology and Welfare Services. The
Department is also concerned with a wide range of provision
for youth and supports initiatives such as Physical Education
and Sport, local and international activities. |
