Time for Young People to Talk
The Southern Education & Library Board (SELB) Youth Service is hosting a Conference where young people are invited to talk about issues that directly affect them. The Southern Board feels it is important to give young people the opportunity to come together and air their views. The Conference is open to any young person within the Southern board geographical area aged between 15-19 years.
Gerard Doran SELB Youth Advisor commented "The SELB Youth Service value the opinion of young people in the local area and want to offer them the opportunity to exercise their rights as citizens and be able to contribute to a more participative democracy. This conference is the ideal forum to discuss matters that directly affect young people, for instance education and employment. The residential is planned with work and fun in mind and is an excellent opportunity to meet young people with similar needs. It will involve small group workshops and discussions alongside outdoor activities and social events".

The venue for the conference is the Share Centre, Co. Fermanagh and the residential runs from Friday, 23rd November (7 p.m.) to Sunday, 25th November (2 p.m.). The Conference will be open to a maximum of 100 young people. A contribution of £10.00 is required from each person attending. Those wishing to come along must apply before 2 November 2001 and transport will be provided from central locations.
