Cross Community Money up for grabs
The Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) Youth Service continuously work with community youth groups and representatives through out the local area. SELB Youth Service Community Relations Support Scheme currently has funding available for cross community programmes in the southern board area and also has cross community training scheduled for October.
Up to £500 is available for working within your own youth group in preparation for cross community contact and up to £3000 is available for the cross community projects. The amounts of money will vary according to the type of programme; some examples include Basic getting to know one another/recreational level programme, Exploring issues and Conflict Resolution. Money can be made available for materials, entrance charges, hire of facilities, transport and residential programmes.
 

Aideen McCormack, SELB Youth Officer today highlighted the monies available and said, "At the SELB Youth Service we are keen to promote cross community programmes and welcome the opportunity to channel funding to youth, community and sports groups. The youth service is here to support and provide advice and currently have monies available to offer practical support for further developing cross community links and partnerships. As for those seeking training, we are running a course called Introduction to Cross Community Work, which begins at the end of October. Anyone aged 18 or over wishing to participate on this course should contact me as soon as possible on 028 38 393249".

The closing date for this current round of funding is 12 November. Funding application forms and further information can be obtained by contacting

The funding and training is open to any group working with young people between the ages of 4 – 25 years. Groups must have a constitution and Child Protection Policy and Procedures in place.
