Helpline for Student Awards |
|
As
examination results arrive and students plan for the
years ahead, the issue of funding and loans is a common
concern. The Southern Education & Library Board
(SELB) has introduced a new system for getting in
touch with the Student Awards section in order
to assist students and parents with the process of
funding for further study.
|
| To
ensure efficient customer service, a direct number has
been set up which connects callers to a team of dedicated
operators to assist with their enquiry. The helpline
number is (028) 37 51 2432. From now until October
these lines will be open from 1.00 - 4.30pm daily, Monday
to Friday. For those who prefer to call in person, staff
from the Awards office will be available also between
1.00 4.30pm Monday to Friday. No appointment
is necessary, however callers must be prepared to wait
as it is on a first come first served basis. |

|
|
| The
reason for opening enquiries lines during selected hours only
is to enable applications to be processed more quickly in
order to assist students and alleviate the pressure experienced
in past years.
SELB Chief Executive Helen McClenaghan commented "At
the SELB, we are aware that this is a worrying time for students
and parents alike and it is our aim to alleviate pressure
in any way we can, especially with regards to Student Awards.
The staff in this section are under extreme pressure at this
time of the year in order to process as many loan applications
as possible in a short space of time. By establishing a direct
helpline with dedicated operators we plan to deal with enquiries
as quickly and efficiently as possible. Enquiries can be made
by phone or in person, however we must not forget that written
correspondence still remains the most efficient mean of communicating
with the Awards Section." Helen McClenaghan also added,
"due to the volume of work at this time, your patience
and understanding will be much appreciated."
Students can also access information via the website at www.selb.org which includes
a 7 step process for obtaining financial assistance and a
list of the most frequently asked questions with answers. |
