Winning numbers for local Schools
The Southern Education & Library Board (SELB) last week hosted a competition with a truly European flavour for all post primary schools within the SELB area.
“Mathematiques Sans Frontieres” is an annual European wide competition, it aims to bridge the geographical gaps within Europe, by utilising a Maths competition that is the same all over Europe.  Each country holds it’s own heat, with the NI finals being held in May.
 

PThe SELB now send the 2 top teams in each category along to the NI finals in May.

Helen McClenaghan SELB Chief Executive presented the winning prize in the Advanced section to St Coleman’s College, Newry with neighbours, Our Lady’s Grammar Newry a close runner up. 

At the presentation Mrs McClenaghan said “ Competition’s like Mathematiques Sans Frontieres aim to encourage partnership with Europe, and make learning fun!.  All our schools and students have performed exceptionally well and we wish them continued success for the regional finals in May.”

Other winners in the competition include St Mark’s High, Warrenpoint who were Highly Commended in the Intermediate Section.  .
