The Shell Best kept Schools Awards are here again !!
The closing date for the annual Shell Best Kept Schools Awards for 2003 is fast approaching and schools across Northern Ireland are being encouraged to say good-bye to litter - permanently. The closing date for the prestigious awards scheme is 24th February 2003.
A winner will be selected in each education and library board area in 3 different categories. Thus, each board will have a Shell Best Kept Small, Medium and Large School, as well as 3 runners-up. Winners and runners-up will receive trophies, signage and Library Board sponsored cash prizes. There will also be one overall winner - ‘Northern Ireland’s Best Kept School’.

The awards focus on clean and litter free grounds and recreational areas and the general upkeep of each school and its amenities.

Stephen Adamson of Shell NI, sponsor of the awards, says: “Pupil participation is paramount in the effort to kept our schools as clean and green as possible. We encourage all schools across Northern Ireland to play their part.”

Application Forms are being sent directly to schools in the Southern Education & Library Board area, week beginning 13 January 2003. If you require additional copies, please contact 028 3741 5356.
