Science Week 10th - 15th March
Programme
of events in SELB Libraries. Seeing Stars !

| In
conjunction with the Armagh Planetarium, the SELB Library
Service is providing access to the Planetarium's 'mini-dome'
in 4 of its Branch Libraries during National Science
Week, 10th to 15th March. The dome will be visited by
primary school children from local schools. The locations
of the dome are as follows : |

Fivemiletown
Library on Monday 10th (morning & afternoon sessions)
Dungannon Library on Tue 11th (morning & afternoon
sessions)
Rathfriland Library on Wednesday 12th (morning &
afternoon sessions)
Warrenpoint Library on Thursday 13th (morning &
afternoon sessions).

There
will be some access to the dome for members of the
general public in each location in the afternoon.On
Friday 14th March, at 7:30 p.m., popular local historian
Frank McCorry, will deliver a talk on ‘The Night
of the Big Wind’ in Brownlow Library. Admission
is free.On
Saturday 15th March there will be a daylong programme
of events in Brownlow Library with the title, ‘When
the Wind Blows’. The programme commences with
an illustrated talk by Dr Tom Mason, Director of the
Armagh Planetarium on global and local weather at
10:30 a.m. The aim is to have a live link-up with
one of the weather satellites during the talk. Other
activities during the day include kite-making demonstrations
and games and stories for children. Admission is free.

| Peter
Joyce, alias Galileo, has researched the life and times of
his character and subsequently has an extensive insight on
how best to communicate and associate his discoveries of the
Maths subject. This is the third year the SELB have organised
such a programme Ends. |
