Last summer 250 young musicians enjoyed being back to school this
summer, when they attended the Music Services Annual Summer
School 2009. The corridors of Portadown College and Bann House
were alive with the ‘sound of Music’ with the enthusiastic pupils
enjoying well established activities including Junior Wind Band,
String Orchestra’s, Big Band, Choir, recorder and harp ensembles,
traditional workshops, guitar classes and Percussion workshops.

This year saw the introduction of new options for Musical Pathways
for Strings and Wind and also a new “Advanced Performance”
option for senior students. An enjoyable break from their musical
studies was provided by Ice Breaker sessions and games, providing
all students with the opportunity to forge new friendships and
adding to the fun and enjoyment.
