The purpose of the Board’s Local Management of Schools scheme is to achieve an equitable distribution of resources and the delegation to schools of responsibility for their use.

The LMS Unit
The main areas of responsibility within LMS are as follows:
To monitor the budgets of 284 Nursery, Primary and Post Primary Schools .
To provide assistance to Principals and Boards of Governors in planning and monitoring budget spend and in the determination of budget plans.
To provide financial training to Principals and Governors on all matters relating to school budgets.
