*CLASSROOM ASSISTANT (SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS)

**(TEMPORARY FOR 2009/2010 SCHOOL YEAR)
HOURS: 10 per week
SALARY: £8.3776 - £8.9658 per hour – NJC Scale pts 14 - 17 (starting on the first point)
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level II in Children's Care Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification as recognised by the SELB;
- Paid experience of working in any primary 1-7 class for at least 10 hours per week for at least 1 term;
- An awareness of elements of the Northern Ireland Curriculum in particular Literacy and Numeracy;
- Ability to work independently;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Patience, good motivational skills, caring, warm, friendly nature; and
- Positive and encouraging attitude.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level III in Children's Care Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification as recognised by the SELB;
- Experience of working in any primary 1-7 class with children with Special Educational Needs;
- Basic computer literacy;
- Familiarity with learning programmes on Classroom 2000;
- An ability to form professional but friendly working relationships with staff members and pupils.
