TEMPORARY SENIOR UNIT CATERING SUPERVISOR (SEPT 2008 – APRIL 2009)

HOURS: 35 per week (8:30am-4:00pm daily)
SALARY: £8.7929 - £9.8019 per hour - NJC SCP 18-21
(Retainer fee paid during periods of school closure)
Essential Criteria
- EITHER NVQ Level III in Food Preparation and Cooking, or equivalent qualification as recognised by SELB, e.g., City & Guilds 705, 706 or 706(1) or 706(2) plus a minimum of 2 years' experience of traditional cooking methods in a catering establishment,
OR a minimum of 3 years' experience of traditional cooking methods in a catering establishment;
- Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene;
- The ability to prepare, cook and present food in a way which is attractive to children;
- Good working knowledge of food hygiene and Health & Safety legislation and ability to apply same within Education Catering Service;
- Experience of book-keeping and budgetary control; and
- The ability to lead and motivate a team and have high-level organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level IV in Food Preparation and Cooking (Kitchen & Larder work), or equivalent qualification as recognised by SELB, e.g., City & Guilds 706(2);
- Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene;
- Cash handling experience;
- The ability to undertake special function catering.
