These specific tasks are the responsibility of Tony May, who is based in the Unit’s offices in Armagh and he is assisted by a team of five Job Evaluation Officers, one from each Board, who are responsible for the administration and implementation of the process in their home Boards.
The team is currently finalising the evaluation of some 25,000 former manual and non-manual posts, representing all the employees of the Boards other than teaching staff, which began in 1995.
In the intervening years, the Unit has gained a considerable degree of skill and expertise in the process of job evaluation in the education sector developing generic job descriptions for clerical and technical posts in schools, libraries, headquarters administration, catering, transport and grounds maintenance.
