HR provides support, advisory, consultancy and specialist services to the Board, its Senior Management Team, Schools, and Departments including recruitment, selection, deployment, management training and development of staff. The service operates within a broad field of legislative and statutory provision at a provincial, national and European level.


Teachers Terms and Conditions of Employment

This section is responsible for the following:
  • Teacher Administration Services
  • Schools Employee Relations - Teaching and Non-Teaching
  • Advice and Guidance to Principals, Boards of Governors and associated staff
This section is responsible for the following:
  • Employee Relations Services for HQ & related establishments
  • Personnel Employee Records
  • General Personnel Administration
  • Advice and guidance to managers in HQ & related locations on related processes and procedures
  • Personnel Payroll Services for Schools staff
This section is responsible for the following:
  • Assessment of Training and Development needs for staff in Headquarters and outcentres and support staff in schools
  • Organisation of staff development programmes
  • Delivery and sourcing of relevant programmes of training
  • Management of the part time study scheme
  • Arrangement of student placements
  • Co ordination of events at the  Regional Training Unit
  • Management of the PRSD scheme in schools
  • Representation of Management Side at the Joint Working Party for Teachers terms and conditions
  • Provision of HR training to Boards of Governors
This section is responsible for the following:

  • Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Reviewing, and Employment Reports and Statistics
  • Monitoring and Audit of Recruitment and Selection Procedures
  • Administration of Formal Complaints Procedures
  • Employee Relations Investigatory Support
This section is responsible for:

  • Staff Welfare Services
  • Attendance Management
This section is responsible for:

  • Teacher Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Services
  • Advice and Guidance to Principals, Boards of Governors and associated staff
  • Recruitment, Selection, Appointments and Promotions at HQ locations and Non-teaching staff in schools
This section is responsible for:
  • Carrying out background checks (through Access NI) on individuals taking up positions for which a check is a requirement (normally posts involving paid or unpaid work with children or vulnerable adults).
This section is responsible for:

  • Advice and guidance on Automatic Enrolment of Pensions
  • NILGOSC Percentage Pension Banding
  • Advice and guidance on NILGOSC Contractual Pension queries
