The Southern
Education and Library Board is one of five education
and Library Boards in Northern Ireland. Each Board is
a public body responsible for the administration of
education, youth and library services.
The area of the SELB extends from Kilkeel on the east
coast to Fivemiletown in the west, and from Crossmaglen
in the south to Moneymore in the north, an area of some
2300km2. The area includes the District Councils of
Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Cookstown, Dungannon,
and Newry and Mourne and contains a population of some
332,000. The SELB is responsible for the administration
of nursery, primary, post-primary and special schools
with a total pupil population of over 88,600. |
